Principals Message

Dear Roosevelt Families,

Welcome to a brand new school year at Roosevelt Elementary! Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning for another incredible year, we are so excited to welcome you and your child into our school community.

We hope your summer has been filled with rest, joy, and time with loved ones. As we prepare to begin the 2025–2026 school year, we are proud to welcome over 550 students and their families back to campus. It’s going to be a fantastic year, and we are honored to be on this journey together.

At Roosevelt, we believe in creating a school where students feel seen, safe, and supported. Every child deserves to learn in an environment where they are celebrated for who they are and challenged to grow into who they are becoming. Our school-wide expectations—to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn—reflect our shared commitment to building a kind, inclusive, and academically vibrant community.

This year, we are excited to introduce our new leadership team. I’m Ms. Herrera, your new principal, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Roosevelt family after serving as an elementary school vice principal for the past two years. I come into this role deeply committed to student voice, strong family partnerships, and creating learning spaces that are both rigorous and joyful. Joining me is our incredible new Vice Principal, Mrs. Gonzalez. Together, we look forward to supporting our students, staff, and families every step of the way.

We are grateful for our amazing teachers who have been hard at work preparing for the school year, and to our custodial team, led by Mr. Eddie Gonzalez, who have kept our school beautiful and clean all summer long. Ms. Jessica Ramirez and our front office team are ready to assist and make sure the start of the year is smooth for everyone.

We know the first few days of school can bring a mix of emotions—excitement, nerves, and lots in between. Please know that we are ready to support your child as they settle into new routines, connect with their teachers, and make new friends. Social-emotional learning will continue to be a key focus for us as we help every student feel connected and confident at school.

Please take note of these important details:

  • Roosevelt is a uniform school. Students may wear black pants or shorts and a white collared shirt. Roosevelt spirit wear will also be available for purchase.

  • Parent Square is our main communication tool. Please make sure your app is set up to receive messages from your child’s teacher and our school. If you need support, our Parent Coordinator, Marilyn Labrador, is here to help.

Throughout the first few weeks, we’ll spend time helping students get to know their teachers, build classroom communities, and review school expectations. Daily attendance and punctuality are important, and we ask for your partnership in ensuring students arrive each day ready to learn.

Roosevelt is more than a school, it’s a place where children grow, families connect, and learning comes alive. We are so glad you’re here, and we can’t wait to begin this journey together.

With Bear pride,

Ms. Herrera
